Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen kept his card close to his chest over the future of Florian Wirtz.
The Bavarians are reportedly one of several suitors interested in the 21-year-old’s services ahead of the summer window.
However, any presumptions over the German international’s future should be tempered with reality.
A move away from Bayer Leverkusen is far from guaranteed at this stage, and Xabi Alonso’s future will play at least some role in deciding the attacking midfielder’s next move.
Jan-Christian Dreesen coy on Florian Wirtz talks

Dreesen refused to acknowledge the existence of any transfer negotiations with Wirtz over a potential switch to Munich this summer.
Florian Plettenberg’s interview with the 57-year-old was relayed on X (formerly Twitter) on the @iMiaSanMia account (and subsequently retweeted by the Sky Sports journalist).
“Because I don’t want to,” the executive told the reporter when asked to explain his reluctance to discuss the topic.
Jan-Christian Dreesen asked by @Plettigoal about the current situation of the negotiations with Florian Wirtz: "[laughs] Dear Mr. Plettenberg, that's your job. You can explain that better than us"
• You don't want to say anything about it?
Dreesen: "No"
• Why not?

Make no mistake: Bayern Munich are 100% interested in the Bundesliga prodigy.
However, the fact of Alonso’s commitment to the terms of his contract at Leverkusen no doubt complicates things.
“No, he’s staying, that’s it. He told me that there was nothing. He has a contract with us,” sporting director Simon Rolfes said of the head coach’s future (via GOAL).
Likewise, Christian Falk has already acknowledged that it will be easier to arrange a new contract for Wirtz with the Spanish manager at the BayArena for another season.
Bayern will attack in 2026
Moves to lower the club’s financial commitments will no doubt enable Bayern to stand at least a fighting chance of pulling off such a transfer.
Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, for instance, are three of several members of the squad expected to depart this summer to clear space on the wage bill.
Regardless, we’ve been led to believe that decision-makers at Säbener Straße will hold fire on a move for Wirtz until the summer of 2026.
At the very least, we don’t expect that to change unless it becomes clear that fellow suitors Manchester City plan an all-out offensive for the footballer in 2025.
At that point, we’d hope Bayern would look to take advantage of their newfound financial flexibility to compete for one of the Bundesliga’s top German talents.
