Report: Bayern line up surprise 17-goal Premier League striker as possible Harry Kane replacement

Bayern Munich are keeping their options open ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Bundesliga leaders are understood to be keeping an eye out for potential forward signings.

Christoph Freund is keen on bringing in some backup for Harry Kane, with the current shortlist including players like Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta is another name the Bavarian giants are allegedly also keeping an eye on.

Bayern Munich admire Mateta

CaughtOffside sources claim that Bayern are tracking the Frenchman in case Kane makes an early departure.

It doesn’t seem that Vincent Kompany’s side is quite as keen as Manchester United. The Red Devils consider him a top potential target along with Matheus Cunha and Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also said to have Mateta in mind in case Dusan Vlahovic departs.

Harry Kane isn’t leaving

Not to burst anyone’s bubble over in the Premier League, but we’ve got it on pretty good authority that Harry Kane isn’t leaving Bayern Munich in a hurry.

The England international is considered one of our nine “untouchable” players.

Plus, Kane has made it pretty clear that he’s happy in Munich. That’s despite ongoing speculation around a return to English football.

More to the point, why on earth would Bayern be prepared to consider an exit? The former Tottenham star has 80 goals in 88 games (across all competitions) since moving to Germany in 2023.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is a cracking player, but his numbers in the same amount of time don’t come close.

With the greatest of respect to the Eagles star, if Harry Kane were to pack his bags at Säbener Straße – we’d need a much more prolific signing.
