There’s a possibility that Kim Min-jae will depart Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Manchester United are one rumoured potential destination for the South Korean star (who arrived in 2023).
The Red Devils were understood to have ‘knocked on the door’ last summer.
Bayern would be prepared to sanction a sale if they get an offer of between €40m-50m [£34.3m-42.8m].
Could Manchester United sign Kim Min-jae?

Manchester United already have their fair share of Bayern expats. Rumour has it they’d be keen on expanding it further by signing ever-linked Leon Goretzka.
It’s a little unclear, however, whether Min-jae falls into that particular category.
Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider that the Premier League giants ‘are not so confident’ in their recent signings from the Bavarians.
“So, they’ll have to think about whether it’s the best strategy for them,” the BILD reporter said.
“Kim Min-jae does have a lot of quality, but I think he’s not been able to show this at Bayern, as he needs a defensive partner who’s vocal and gives him instructions.”
Which leads us on to the curious case of Jonathan Tah…
Bayern need a defensive leader
Whilst it remains unclear if Dayot Upamecano will extend his contract in Munich, Kim Min-jae is arguably the most likely of the pair to depart this summer.
In which case, there’s an opportunity for Vincent Kompany’s men to secure a profile that our backline has been sorely lacking.
Barcelona’s ongoing financial dispute with La Liga will bring Tah back into the conversation.
“Tah was one of Max Eberl’s main targets last summer,” Falk went on to add.
“He wasn’t allowed to sign the centre-back because of a €5m disagreement with Bayern’s advisory board. The board was prepared to sanction a €20m transfer fee for Jonathan Tah, but Leverkusen were demanding €25m.
“Normally, €5m is nothing for Bayern Munich, so you see how strict the board is being with transfer decisions. If Eberl had sold a player beforehand, he would have been given the go-ahead for Tah.
“A player like Tah would be very important for Bayern Munich because they’re currently lacking a defensive leader. They are searching for one – they need one, as neither Upamecano nor Min-jae can be considered one.”
Max Eberl needs an easy win
Given the pressure Max Eberl is under to bring Bayern’s finances under control, this represents one of his easiest potential wins of the summer window.
Assuming we can find a willing buyer for Min-jae and bring Jonathan Tah on board, there’ll be money in the coffers and a key position filled.
It’s a win-win situation for all involved.
