Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title celebrations had, initially, been put on hold for another week.
Leroy Sane came within minutes of granting Vincent Kompany’s men their first major piece of silverware under the Belgian head coach.
The German international struck in the 83rd minute before Yussuf Poulsen’s stoppage-time goal levelled proceedings for RB Leipzig.
A buzzkill of an ending, for the visitors at least, to what had the makings of a magnificent comeback at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
Harry Kane’s wait for silverware goes on

It would be unfair to describe Bayern as toothless after matching Leipzig in a six-goal thriller.
There’s no question that a very different story might have been written had top scorer Harry Kane been available. His first yellow card suspension, however, consigned him to a watching brief in the stands.
The Englishman was spotted making his way to the sideline ahead of the final whistle, where he unfortunately witnessed Leipzig’s equalising goal.
FC Bayern had arranged for a box of championship t-shirts (sat behind Kane) to be distributed. But these had to be stowed away again after Poulsen’s goal delayed the celebrations.
Thomas Müller was ever the cheerleader
You could forgive the Englishman for looking a little disappointed after Felix Zwayer brought the game to a close.
Fortunately, Thomas Müller (ever the optimist) was on hand to lift the mood at the final whistle.
The Bayern Munich favourite was the first to build up his colleague, clapping with him and shouting, “Jaaaaaa!”. To which his colleague smiled and shouted back, “Jaaaaa!”
It seemed Müller (set to leave on a free this summer) was trying to make a perfectly valid point: One point in the title race is more than enough with the Bundesliga leaders cleanly ahead on goal difference (30 goals).
Team/place (Bundesliga) | Points | Goal difference |
1) Bayern Munich | 76 | +61 |
2) Bayer Leverkusen | 68 | +31 |
Kane deserves to win the Bundesliga title
Harry Kane’s parents had travelled to Leipzig specially for the occasion. They came into the dressing room after the 3-3 draw to congratulate their son ahead of Bayern’s latest triumph.
Honorary president Uli Hoeneß also had some kind words for the club’s 36-goal striker (across all competitions in 2024/25): “No one deserves the title more than Harry.”
There won’t be a further suspension
Rest assured that the former Tottenham star will be present in FC Bayern’s next clash with Gladbach on Saturday.
There had been some discussion about whether Kane could be suspended again for entering the inner circle of the Red Bull Arena before the final whistle.
However, the German FA subsequently declared that players suspended for yellow cards were not subject to a stadium ban. The England captain was thus allowed to remain next to the Bayern bench.
Bayern are Bundesliga champions
A draw against Leipzig may not have mathematically guaranteed the title. But one result elsewhere has gone in the club’s favour.
Xabi Alonso’s second-placed Bayer Leverkusen could only secure a 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg on Sunday evening – a result that names Bayern the Bundesliga champions for 2024/25!
Harry Kane and the team were spotted watching the game in question at a restaurant, Käfer, in Munich.
The Englishman joined in a rendition of Queen’s We are the Champions, shared to his Instagram on Sunday evening.

It begs the question: How could Kane ever consider leaving this summer?
