Arsenal waiting for player’s decision after “concrete” talks held over move

Arsenal remain an option for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, as more clubs join the race to secure his signature. 

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking areas in the summer window, and they have earmarked Sane, who would be available for free.

The two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City has rejected a contract extension offer from Bayern, and he would be open to returning to the Premier League.

More clubs join the race to sign Leroy Sane

Reports emerged this week that Turkish Galatasaray have joined the race to sign the 29-year-old winger.

They have offered him a wage package of around €12m (£10.2m) per year.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Arsenal are waiting for the player’s decision. The player wants to move to London.

“The talks with Arsenal are more concrete at the moment than with Tottenham, who have gone a little quiet in recent days. Now, everybody is waiting for a decision,” the head of football at BILD exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“Normally, they’d want a decision this week but it’s still yet to be made. So, perhaps, they will wait to see how serious Arsenal are. Leroy Sané would like to go to London – this would be his favoured option if he were to leave Bayern Munich.

“That was his clear message to his new agent, Pini Zahavi. Zahavi himself is based in London and is involved in talks with all the major London clubs. Now that Arsenal are on the table (they were previously with Sané’s former agent), we have to wait and see if the Gunners are prepared to get concrete.”

However, Galatasaray could face competition from Turkish rivals, Fenerbahce.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Fenerbahce are willing to pay a net annual salary of up to €15 million (£12.64m).

Leroy Sane set for Bayern Munich exit

Vincent Kompany knows Sane very well from his time at Man City, and he wants the German winger to continue at the Allianz Arena.

However, Sane could be tempted to join Arsenal in the summer. He would not only receive high wages, but also be able to stay close to his family.

Bayern have held talks with Pini Zahavi (Sane’s agent) over Sane’s contract extension, and everyone is waiting for the player’s final decision.
