Report: £50m Arsenal target is “dream” signing for Bayern

Bayern Munich are keen to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, but they could face strong competition from Premier League giants Arsenal.

Like Bayern, the Gunners are also looking to bolster their attacking areas and have earmarked Nico Williams as a potential option.

The 22-year-old has a release clause worth around £50m in his contract, which runs until 2027, but it won’t be easy for either Arsenal or Bayern to lure him away.

It is an open secret that Bayern are looking to bolster their left-wing areas, and they have already been linked with a host of attackers.

Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo has emerged as one of their top targets, while AC Milan’s Rafael Leao remain another option.

However, Bayern have not taken their eyes off Williams. The 22-year-old dazzled for Spain in the UEFA Nations League 2025 semifinal against France, proving his quality once again.

Christian Falk informed CFBayern that Nico Williams is the “dream” signing for Max Eberl, Head of Sport for Bayern.

The German champions wanted to sign the Spaniard last summer, and Eberl rates him highly. Bayern still want him this summer.

At the same time, Bayern know that Williams wants a high salary, and several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, are vying for his signature. Williams should demand a salary of over £20m per year.

Nico Williams will be a stellar signing for Bayern

Arsenal can meet his £50m release clause, but will they be willing to meet his wage demands?

Bayern were willing to pay a massive transfer fee to sign Florian Wirtz, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise if they decide to take a big gamble on Williams.

The Bavarian giants will need to offload players to free up the space and wages for potential signings. Kingsley Coman is most likely to leave, while Leroy Sane could also depart.
