Bayern must beat Arsenal to secure deal for ‘world-class’ £50m star – opinion

It is an open secret that Bayern Munich are looking to sign a new left-winger in the summer transfer window.

The Bavarian giants have been linked with a host of wingers already, but they must focus on securing a deal for Nico Williams.

Bayern could face strong competition from Premier League giants Arsenal, who are equally keen to land the Spanish winger.

According to a recent report from The Mirror, the Gunners are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing the Athletic Bilbao winger.

Mikel Arteta is aiming for a massive summer overhaul, and adding a quality winger is a priority for Arsenal. The north London club have been linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, but it seems they have not taken their eyes off Williams.

Bayern are also in the race. The German champions have been linked with a move for Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, but Williams would be a cracking addition to the side.

Williams has a release clause worth around £50m in his contract which runs until 2027, and Bayern must beat other suitors for his signature.

At 22, he is already a “world-class” winger in his own right, and his best years are ahead of him. He is a regular for the Spain national team and scored against France in the 5-4 win in the UEFA Nations League semi-final on Thursday.

Nico Williams will be perfect for Bayern Munich

Bayern will be looking to offload Kingsley Coman in the summer window, while the future of Leroy Sane is also in doubt.

They need a quality left-winger in their ranks, and Williams fits the bill nicely.

He could form a fearsome attacking quartet with Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane, and will instantly improve the squad to a great effect.

Bilbao president Jon Uriarte has claimed that Williams is a part of their long-term project, but surely Bayern have the pulling power to lure him away from the La Liga club.
