Tottenham Hotspur have not given up on the hopes of signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich permanently in the summer transfer window.
Spurs signed the 20-year-old forward from Bayern during the January transfer window, and the north London club are keen to sign him permanently.
According to a recent report from Football London, Spurs are expected to open negotiations at a lower fee. They have money to spend after qualifying for the Champions League next season by winning the Europa League.
Mathys Tel – what’s the latest scenario?

Spurs are required to pay £50m to sign Tel permanently, but they are reluctant to meet that asking price.
On the other hand, Bayern have almost made the decision to offload Tel after a messy break-up at the end of January.
Tel is one of the players who could generate funds for the Bavarian club.
Christian Falk informed CFBayern that Bayern want to renegotiate with Daniel Levy for Tel’s departure.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has a good contact with Spurs and he will lead the talks.
The German giants are willing to demand less than the agreed clause of £50m (€60m), and could lower the asking price to £30m (€35m).
Tottenham could seal double Bayern deal – Tel and Sane
Tel scored two goals in 13 Premier League appearances for Spurs and further made five appearances in the Europa League last season.
He didn’t play in the Europa League final, which was a big disappointment for Bayern. It shows that Tel is not a key starter for Tottenham, but the north London club are still keen to sign him permanently in the summer.
Back in February, Ange Postecoglou reminded everyone that Tottenham didn’t sign him for only six months, indicating that Spurs want to secure him permanently.
Postecoglou said: “He will be a Tottenham player. I think he will show everyone he will be a Tottenham player in the next six months. I didn’t bring him here for six months.”
Interestingly, Postecoglou is now facing an uncertain future at the club, and if Daniel Levy decides to sack him, it might have ramifications for Tel’s potential move.
Tottenham are also keen to sign Bayern Munich’s winger Leroy Sane, who has rejected a contract extension offer from the club. Thus, Spurs could secure double deals for Sane and Tel this summer, but it appears to be difficult.
However, if Spurs manage to get the two deals done (including Sane on a free transfer), it will be seen as a masterclass from Levy.
