9/10 Club World Cup monster just showed why Newcastle must sign him immediately – opinion

Kingsley Coman will have done his CV no harm after playing a central role in Bayern Munich’s 10-0 win over Auckland City.

Vincent Kompany’s men faced the New Zealand-based side in the opening clash of the Club World Cup.

Coman got the German champions off to a super start with a goal in the opening six minutes of action in the first half.

Sacha Boey, Thomas Muller, Michael Olise, and Jamal Musiala were also on the scoresheet as FC Bayern kicked off their Club World Cup campaign in style.

Reporting from our on-site Bundesliga expert, Christian Falk, has confirmed that the Bayern winger is in high demand this summer.

Newcastle are understood to hold some interest in Coman, however, the Magpies are not considered the 29-year-old’s favoured option.

Barcelona, likewise, can be ruled out at this stage due to the likely financials around a potential deal.

As such, that clears room for Saudi Arabia to secure another top European player at the peak of his powers.

Newcastle may need Anthony Gordon replacement

With Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle left winger Anthony Gordon reportedly revitalised, the Magpies’ hierarchy may need to begin the search for a potential replacement.

The Premier League club will have time to, for what it’s worth, given that the Reds will surely be in no hurry to push one of Cody Gakpo or Luis Diaz out of the door this summer.

Still, should the worst-case scenario come to pass, Eddie Howe’s men could do much worse than signing a Champions League-level winger in Coman.

The good news for Newcastle United: Bayern Munich want to sell! The bad news: they’ll need to find a way to convince the No.11 that his future lies in the northeast of England.

Coman showcases his quality in the Club World Cup

There’s a lot to be said about the quality disparity between Bayern and their amateur opposition.

Still, on a day when Vincent Kompany’s men could have operated quite comfortably in first gear, Kingsley Coman very much gave his best on the day.

Sofascore handed the Bayern winger a 9.8/10 rating (behind Michael Olise and Thomas Muller) after scoring twice and assisting Sacha Boey.

One might reasonably imagine Auckland City were more than a little relieved to see the Frenchman replaced before half-time.
