Bayern Munich pay tribute to Liverpool striker Diogo Jota after tragic passing

There are some moments in life that speak not only across football but also above it.

The tragic passing of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota (28) is one such moment.

The Portuguese international had been travelling by car in the Zamora region of Sanabria in Spain with his brother, Andre.

Reports coming out of Spain confirmed that the vehicle had crashed following a tyre blowout whilst overtaking another car, according to the Civil Guard.

The tragedy occurred only 11 days after the forward had married his long-time partner, Rute Cardosa. Jota leaves behind his wife and their three young children.

Bayern Munich pay their respects to Diogo Jota

Bayern players gather in a circle on the training pitch in Orlando.

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern – including Jota’s international teammates, Raphaël Guerreiro and João Palhinha – were keen to pay tribute.

Playing and coaching staff paused training in Orlando, ahead of Munich’s upcoming Club World Cup quarter-final clash with PSG, to honour the 28-year-old.

The Belgian head coach offered some sage words, and the players bowed their heads for a minute’s silence.

All of us here at CF Bayern Insider would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Diogo Jota’s family, friends, loved ones, and all associated with Liverpool Football Club at this terrible time.

You’ll Never Walk Alone.
