Bayern Munich may have received a huge boost to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool after the Reds reportedly have taken the ‘next steps’ to sign his potential replacement.
The 28-year-old has a contract at Anfield until 2027, but the Colombian international is open to leaving the Premier League champions this summer.
Diaz has already informed Liverpool of his desire to join Bayern, but as of now, the two clubs have not reached an agreement.
Bayern may have received huge boost to sign Diaz

Liverpool have already rejected two bids from Bayern. The latest offer was around €67.5m [£58.4m], but it was swiftly rejected, with the Premier League champions demanding a fee of around €100m [£80m].
Bayern are expected to submit an ‘important’ offer for Diaz, and they believe that Liverpool will soften their stance.
The Bundesliga champions will be boosted by the fact that Liverpool are close to signing Hugo Ekitike on a big-money deal, and they could be willing to offload Diaz at a reasonable price to balance the books.
According to a report from TBR Football, Liverpool have held talks with Rodrygo’s camp over a potential move. Bayern have been linked with a move for Rodrygo, but they have shifted their focus to signing Diaz instead.
Richard Hughes is keen to bring Rodrygo to Anfield, and the Brazilian could be willing to leave Real Madrid. The forward has begun exploring his options.
The news will come as a huge boost for Bayern. Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are all likely to depart, and Diaz could be heading towards the exit door if the Reds sign Rodrygo.
Bayern need to pay a massive transfer fee
Liverpool are dominating the transfer market this summer, and they are building something special under Arne Slot.
The Reds will not mind if Diaz stays beyond the summer, as they need more attackers following the tragic death of Diogo Jota.
Bayern will be aware that Liverpool are tough negotiators, and they must come close to the player’s valuation in order to have any chance of signing him.
