Bayern look to beat Man Utd to sign £35m attacker; talks held with agent Pini Zahavi

Bayern Munich are back in the race to sign Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in signing the 27-year-old winger, who has come in handy for Enzo Maresca’s side in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The German champions aim to strengthen their forward areas and have identified Luis Diaz as their top target.

However, they have not lost sight of Nkunku, and the French attacker could become a serious option for them, with Chelsea needing to sell a few players to balance their books.

Back in June, we reported that Nkunku is not part of Maresca’s long-term plans, and he could be sold during the summer window.

Chelsea insist on selling Nkunku permanently, and Man Utd have been told to pay a fee of around £35m for the winger.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha, and they are close to securing a deal for Bryan Mbuemo. However, Ruben Amorim could further look to bolster their attacking department, and Nkunku has emerged as a potential target.

We understand here at CF Bayern Insider that Bayern are back in the race for Nkunku, with the club desperately needing to sign a winger following the horrific injury to Jamal Musiala.

Barcelona were interested in signing Nkunku, and Chelsea proposed a swap deal involving Fermin Lopez. The Catalan giants have rejected the proposal.

Bayern is another option for Nkunku, apart from Barcelona. Chelsea rejected the proposal of a loan with a buy option in the past, and the Blues are only interested in selling him directly.

The Bavarian club have started talks with Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi. After Leroy Sane left the club to join Galatasaray, Nkunku’s name has resurfaced as a potential option once again.

Max Eberl held concrete talks with Nkunku back in January, but Bayern weren’t willing to pay €70m (£60m) for him. He knows him well from his time at RB Leipzig, and the Frenchman could become a genuine target for Bayern in the coming days.

Chelsea could sell Nkunku after UEFA bombshell

Chelsea have been fined £26.7m and could be fined a further £51.2m over the next four years if they fail to fulfil the financial controls enforced by European football’s governing body.

According to a report from BBC Sport, Chelsea may need to sell forwards Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Nkunku, among others, to maintain a positive financial balance.

If they fail to do so, the Blues will not be able to register the new signings – Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens – for the Champions League next season.

Chelsea must sell players from the Conference League squad to balance the £170m of purchases made this summer, and that is why Nkunku is the one to watch out for.

Man Utd have been linked with a move, but our information suggests that Nkunku could now become a serious option for Bayern Munich.
