Liverpool could get Luis Diaz let-off as Bayern fans want to sign £86m wizard

Bayern Munich could yet be encouraged to make a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer.

The Liverpool-linked attacker has been a source of heavy speculation in recent weeks.

Indeed, reporting from Spain has indicated that the Brazil international would be open to a fresh challenge away from La Liga.

The same reports have also credited FC Bayern with an interest in Rodrygo.

The Madrid star’s future currently looks a little uncertain, with the La Liga giants reportedly open to a sale.

As such, it’s unsurprising to hear that this has opened him up to opportunities abroad with Europe’s major clubs.

Christian Falk has made clear, however, that Rodrygo’s name, whilst linked with Bayern, has yet to be officially discussed in Munich.

Still, there is a possibility that the reportedly £86m-valued footballer ‘could become a topic’ amid fan pressure.

“There’s an interesting development around the club. The supporters are concerned about FC Bayern’s plan to spend so much money on Luis Diaz when they could go for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo,” the BILD reporter exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“This would be a really interesting player for the club. He hasn’t been discussed yet inside the halls of Säbener Straße, but there is a sense that he could become a topic with the fans pushing hard for the club to sign him.

“So, perhaps something could develop from this particular wish.”

How does Rodrygo compare to Liverpool winger Luis Diaz?

FC Bayern are, as has been well-documented, hellbent on signing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

The Colombian international, along with VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, remains the club’s top priority in the transfer market.

But how does the 28-year-old compare to his younger (24) Real Madrid counterpart?

There’s not much to separate the pair of wingers from an output perspective.

On an underlying stats level, however, the differences become somewhat more distinct.

Data MB positions Diaz as the markedly superior winger of the two, with Rodrygo excelling in ball-carrying by comparison.

However, it’s worth pointing out that the version of the Brazilian we see in the 2024/25 campaign isn’t necessarily a true reflection of his capabilities.

Take, for instance, the same radar graph above with the Real Madrid star’s 2023/24 numbers now transposed atop it.

Ball-carrying remains consistent, but Rodrygo’s total creative and goal-scoring threat significantly improves.

There’s still room for improvement with output, of course, but that’s hardly a deal-breaker for a player still yet to hit his peak years as an attacker.
