Huge transfer boost for Arsenal: £60m Bayern target prefers PL move – report

Bayern Munich have been long-term admirers of RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons, but he is not their top priority target this summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested in the 22-year-old attacker, and a move to the Premier League is more likely at this stage.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that Simons is prepared to leave Leipzig, and the Gunners (and Chelsea) have been informed. As of now, the German club have received no bids for Simons.

The Gunners have bolstered their forward areas by signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta still wants to add more quality players up front and sees Simons as a perfect fit.

The French attacker scored 10 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances last season, and Xavi Simons is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting attackers.

Simons joined permanently from Paris Saint-Germain for €50m [£43m] in January 2025, and he is now looking to test himself elsewhere.

The versatile winger can reportedly leave the German club for around £70m, but Leipzig realistically could accept an offer in the region of £60m.

Huge transfer boost for Arsenal in Simons chase

It is no longer a secret now that Bayern want to sign Luis Diaz and Nick Woltemade this summer, and they are ready to pay a hefty fee to secure their services.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Simons is their “Plan B” option if they fail to sign Diaz, who is valued at around £70 million.

Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons, and he would be the first option for Bayern if they fail to land their top targets.

However, Romano claims that Simons is likely to move to the Premier League this summer, and Arsenal or Chelsea have a strong chance of signing him.

Chelsea have already added Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap in their attacking areas, but they could further look to bolster that department if they get rid of players like Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix.
