After Wirtz: Liverpool now plan to hijack Bayern’s €90m ‘outstanding’ target

Bayern Munich are showing keen interest in signing RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba in the summer transfer window.

The German giants could face competition from Premier League champions Liverpool. Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing the French defender.

Liverpool blew Bayern out of the water to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and it appears that the two clubs could be in a tussle again to sign Lukeba.

Liverpool have already bolstered their defence by signing Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, and they are now looking to add a new centre-back.

The Reds have sold Jarrell Quansah to Leverkusen this week, while the future of Joe Gomez remains in doubt.

Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi remains an option for Liverpool, but according to FootMercato, the Reds are showing keen interest in Lukeba, who is open to leaving RB Leipzig.

Lukeba has a €90m [£77.8m] release clause in his contract, but Leipzig have agreed to sell him at a lower amount. He has a contract until 2029, but any potential suitor can negotiate with Leipzig to get him at a reasonable price.

Bayern Munich are also in the race. The German champions are looking to sign a new winger this summer, but they may look to add a new defender.

Another transfer hijack from Liverpool?

Bayern have already signed Jonathan Tah, and they could look to sign one more defender if they sell Kim Min-jae.

The South Korean defender could be sold in the summer, and Bayern are already lining up some options.

Chelsea defender Renato Veiga has emerged as a target for Bayern, and we can expect to see more players being linked with a move in the coming days.

Lukeba is an “outstanding” defender who made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga last season. He also made four starts in the Champions League.

Having already seen how Liverpool hijacked the move for Wirtz, Bayern need to be very cautious if the Reds decide to lure Lukeba to Anfield at any price.

  1. but it seems the sporting director for bayern is not serious, he is jumping on everything but concluding nothing. by this time the former sporting director(hassan) would already have signed some quality players. but the current director is just many be not professional. secondly, there is no need of clinging on a player like william wo seem not like to join the club, why do you force him ? will he really deliver if he doesnt have the club at heart? there is something bayern insnt doing well for sure.
