Chelsea very close to agreeing personal terms with attacker as Bayern keep calling

Bayern Munich could miss out on yet another target this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly very close to agreeing personal terms with Xavi Simons, but Bayern have not given up on him as yet.

The Blues have bolstered their attacking options this summer, but Enzo Maresca still wants more players to take the side to the next level.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro to their ranks, but Maresca is looking to add Simons to the side.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku, and Joao Felix are likely to leave Stamford Bridge, and Simons could come in as a replacement.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Simons is their “Plan B” option if the German champions fail to sign Luis Diaz, who is valued at around £70 million.

Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons, and he would be the first option for Bayern if a deal for Diaz falls through.

Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that Bayern had enquired about signing Simons, who has informed Leipzig that he wants to leave the club.

Fabrizio Romano has now stated that Bayern continue to call Leipzig about Simons, while Arsenal are also kept informed. However, Chelsea are looking more likely to reach an agreement with the 22-year-old.

Are Bayern losing their focus in the transfer market?

This has been a disastrous window for Bayern. They are desperate to sign a new winger this summer, but as of now, they have not been able to land their major targets.

Liverpool have already rejected two bids from Bayern for Diaz. The German champions are expected to come up with an improved offer, but it appears that they are also worried about losing Simons to Chelsea.

Leipzig could negotiate a deal for Simons for around £60m, but whether Bayern would be willing to hijack Chelsea’s move remains to be seen.
