Liverpool could lose Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich this summer due to their unwillingness to offer him a bumper salary.
That’s less of an issue as far as the Bavarian giants are concerned, with the club keen to plug the gap left by Leroy Sané’s summer departure.
The Colombian international’s current terms at Anfield are set to run until the summer of 2027.
Diaz has communicated to the Bayern hierarchy that he would be open to a transfer this summer.
Bayern Munich can offer Luis Diaz a higher salary

Where Liverpool continue to be reluctant to meet the 28-year-old’s wage demands, Bayern are willing and able to offer an alternative.
The incumbent Bundesliga champions are still committed to lowering the wage bill. However, they are prepared to put money aside to ensure Al-Nassr-linked Luis Diaz feels well-compensated at the Allianz Arena.
“Bayern are keen to lower the wage bill at the club. However, Luis Diaz could easily earn €50m [£43.2m] gross (perhaps a little bit more with add-ons factored in), which could be more than he’s currently earning at Liverpool at the moment,” Christian Falk exclusively revealed with CF Bayern Insider.
“Ultimately, there’s an agreement between FC Bayern and the player, which is why he knows he can earn more in Munich.
“At Bayern Munich, they showed Diaz that they really like him. At Liverpool, he’s one of several players, but in Munich, they gave him the feeling that he could be the next big star. So, that’s surely an argument in Bayern’s favour.”
The former FC Porto attacker is thought to be on a paltry £55k-a-week (€63.5k) at Anfield, if Capology’s salary report is on the money.
Why aren’t Liverpool prepared to boost Diaz’s wages?
Liverpool are in a difficult situation where, at 28 years of age, they clearly don’t feel comfortable offering the left winger the kind of salary that would put him among the higher earners.
Exceptions to the rule can always be made at L4, of course, though these are usually reserved for the club’s premium performers with expectations of longevity in the game.
For his part, the attacker is understandably disappointed that his significant contributions to the club over the last few years won’t be recognised with a salary increase.
Still, the club maintains that Diaz is not for sale. However, it’s clear that position could, and probably will, bend if the Merseysiders receive a sizeable fee.
For our Bayern Munich insider, Christian Falk, the expectation is that a figure just shy of £70m would bring the Premier League champions to the negotiating table.
