Christian Falk shares what Bayern have already discussed with Luis Diaz and his team

The left winger market may be shrinking, but FC Bayern still have a number names on their list to keep Max Eberl occupied.

One name that has quickly become in focus for the Bavarian giant’s recruitment team is that of Liverpool wide man Luis Diaz.

The Colombian international is understood to be open to a move to a foreign league, with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona particularly attractive.

However, with the Blaugrana having clearly set their sights on Nico Williams, Bayern Munich look like the clearest opportunity.

Liverpool are understood to have rebuffed approaches from interested parties this summer. That includes one from Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga champions.

Nonetheless, Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, has already held some discussions with Diaz and his management team over a potential switch in the window.

“We exclusively reported over a week ago that Luis Diaz is in talks with Bayern. Now, things are getting more concrete,” Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“According to our information, FC Bayern boss Max Eberl (51) is said to have made a concrete approach to the Colombian and his management. They are said to have discussed specific figures with a view to making an offer.

“Now, it’s said that Liverpool have clearly signalled Diaz is allegedly not for sale. The question now is: Are LFC serious? Or is it part of the poker game? Luis Diaz is said to have been very open to talks and a transfer.”

Now, the question remains as to how rigidly the Merseysiders will stick to their stance and whether their resolve can be weakened with a serious offer.

Reports circulating from patch journalists indicate that Liverpool may be prepared to shift their view on the matter if a particularly sizeable bid comes in for Diaz.

A suitable replacement for Leroy Sané at Bayern?

The statistical evidence on offer indicates that Leroy Sané may be a bigger loss for FC Bayern than some may expect. Even if the German international’s performances at the Club World Cup, prior to a move to Galatasaray, have indicated otherwise.

Data collected by DataMB would appear to suggest that the 29-year-old winger enjoyed a superior campaign, as far as underlying numbers are concerned, in the 2024/25 season.

In terms of output, there’s far from being a serious drop off to Diaz – the Colombian registered a similar goal contribution per 90 rate to Sané.

And it’s certainly comparable to the numbers we’re seeing from Kingsley Coman.

Players Goals Assists Goal contributions per 90
Luis Diaz 17 8 133.44
Leroy Sané 13 6 132.63
Kingsley Coman 9 6 134

The big question is whether or not these figures can scale up in Munich, should the left winger opt to depart Arne Slot’s side this summer.

One might feel inclined to argue that Luis Diaz will enjoy a greater supply of space and time on the ball, compared to the extremes of Premier League football.

Only time will tell on that front!

Either way, FC Bayern have plenty of time left in the window to build up the necessary funds to potentially challenge Liverpool’s resolve.

  1. Unfortunately Bayern Munich aren’t a top european club now ( even though they are mostly a one club league ) you’ve put pressure on teams like Bayern Leverkusen and others so use can take their players on the cheap.Using politics & mainstream media to push your agenda is disgusting frankly and use should be ashamed of yourselves…
