How much Liverpool expect to get from Luis Diaz as Bayern make new phone calls

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has emerged as the number one target for Bayern Munich, and the German champions are making concrete efforts to sign him.

Diaz enjoyed a terrific 2024-25 campaign for the Reds, in which he scored 17 goals in all competitions. He has a contract at Anfield until 2027, but as of now, the Colombian has not been offered a new deal.

Liverpool have rejected offers from both Bayern and Barcelona so far, but their stance could change if they receive a mega offer for him.

Christian Falk exclusively reported that Bayern’s recruitment team has submitted a bid worth €52m [£44.8m] for Luis Diaz.

The Bavarian club can go upto €60m [£51.6m] plus possible bonuses for Diaz, but they probably want to see if a middle ground can be reached with Liverpool for the Colombian winger.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool is taking a gamble with Diaz, and they are dreaming of securing a fee of around €80m [£69m].

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has made a few phone calls with Diaz’s management, and financial details and potential contract terms were discussed.

Should Bayern look for options elsewhere?

It has been a really frustrating transfer window for Bayer as they have struggled to secure deals for their top targets.

Nico Williams decided to sign a contract extension with Athletic Bilbao after failing to move to Barcelona. Likewise, Paris Saint-Germain refused to sell Bradley Barcola.

Diaz, 28, is open to leaving the club, and Bayern see him as an ideal candidate. They are not concerned about his resale value; rather, they believe the Colombian can make a significant impact immediately and help them win more silverware.

In case Bayern fail to land Diaz, they must shift their focus elsewhere. The club has long admired Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku and still retain an interest in him.

Bayern are also keen to sign Nick Woltemade, but they see him as a back-up option for Harry Kane, mainly.
