Daniel Levy needs to pay £26m to sign Bayern player after Tottenham hold talks

Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha could leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the 30-year-old midfielder, who is open to moving to London again.

Arsenal attempted to sign Palhinha before the Club World Cup, but the Gunners were unable to reach an agreement with Bayern.

Palhinha joined Bayern for £48m last summer, but he failed to make a strong impact under Vincent Kompany, managing only seven starts in the Bundesliga.

The Portuguese midfielder was overlooked during the Club World Cup, which further fuels speculation over his long-term future at Bayern. While Palhinha wants to fight for his place, his future remains uncertain.

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham have held a fresh round of talks with Palhinha in the past few days.

The former Fulham midfielder remains an active option for Spurs, who are looking to sign a new holding midfielder.

The report claims that Tottenham are ready to sell Yves Bissouma, and the north London club have earmarked Palhinha as a potential replacement for him.

Bayern ready to offload Palhinha

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Bayern are willing to cut their losses. If Palhinha leaves, the German champions will turn their attention towards Renato Veiga.

The Bild journalist said: “Arsenal made a concrete approach for João Palhinha, as we exclusively reported on CF Bayern Insider on Thursday.

“So there’s still the possibility of selling him this summer. The price is going down and down – €25m [£21.6m], perhaps €30m [£25.9m], but that’s it. Bayern Munich want to sell him. If he leaves, it’s also a chance for the club to go for Renato Veiga.”

Tottenham already signed Mathys Tel from Bayern on a permanent basis this summer, and the two clubs could be involved in more business.

Daniel Levy needs to pay somewhere around £26m to sign Palhinha, and the price should be well within their budget.
