Bayern Munich picked up their second win in the 2025-26 Bundesliga campaign after beating Augsburg 3-2 at the WWK Arena.
After beating RB Leipzig 6-0 in the opening game at the Allianz Arena, Bayern looked like they were cruising for another massive win after taking a 3-0 lead.
However, they lost their shape and composure in the second half, conceding two goals, which led to a nervy ending.

Augsburg vs Bayern Munich: match report
Bayern made a strong start, and new signing Luis Diaz should have given them an early lead inside the first minute.
The Colombian international missed horribly from three yards out in an embarrassing fashion after Michael Olise found him in acres of space.
Olise should have scored shortly after an error from the Augsburg goalkeeper, but he could not find the net.
The home side looked to create chances on the counterattack, but Manuel Neuer was not tested enough. They mostly limited their efforts from a distance.
Bayern broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Harry Kane delivered a sumptuous floating delivery in the box, and Serge Gnabry headed brilliantly.
In the dying minutes of the first half, the visitors doubled the lead when Diaz scored for the second game in a row, with Konrad Laimer claiming an assist.
Two minutes after the break, Olise made it 3-0 after he found himself in a one-on-one inside the box. He twisted and turned with his left foot and scored with his weaker foot, with Kane getting another assist.
Shortly afterwards, Kristijan Jakic scored for the home side to give them some hope, after some sloppy defending from both Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano.
Bayern kept on pushing for the next goal, with both Olise and Diaz coming close to scoring, but those were merely half-chances.
Sandro Wagner’s side stunned Bayern after Mert Komur scored a superb goal, but Dayot Upamecano once again failed to clear the danger.
Komur nearly scored another goal in the dying minutes of the game with a header, beating Upamecano in the air.
Olise and Diaz combined superbly to create one more chance in the extra time, but the home side cleared the danger.
Here at CF Bayern Insider, we have rated the players out of 10.
Bayern Munich player ratings
The first XI
Manuel Neuer (7) – Fantastic with his distributions, but could he have done better to prevent both goals?
Josip Stanisic (6) – Unlike Laimer, he was a bit quiet on the left-hand side, and tried his luck from distance that flew over the bar. However, he was solid at the back, as always.
Jonathan Tah (5) – Failed to clear the ball from, a bit too casually, which led to the first goal.
Dayot Upamecano (4) – Two failed clearances. Two goals. Upamecano had a difficult time in the second half and was clearly Bayern’s worst performer. The Frenchman should have scored with his header after he was found unmarked in the box, but was saved by Dahmen.
Konrad Laimer (7) – Excellent going forward once again, and combined brilliantly with Olise on the right-hand side. Provided the assist for Diaz’s goal, and could have scored one himself.
Leon Goretzka (6) – Won 100% ground duels and managed 91% passing accuracy, but lacked creativity, and was taken off after the 71st minute.
Joshua Kimmich (6) – Another strong performance in midfield, but failed to clear the ball that led to Augsburg’s second goal.
Luis Diaz (7) – Missed a sitter in the opening minute but came back strongly to score in back-to-back games.
Serge Gnabry (8) – He is enjoying a fantastic start in the new season and scored the opening goal with a brilliant header.
Michael Olise (9) – Outstanding once again from the right-hand side, he was a nightmare for the Augsburg defence. Could have easily had more goals.
Harry Kane (8) – The best thing about Kane is that he is always involved. He has looked sharper this season and registered two brilliant assists.
