Christian Falk responds to reports Bayern are interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma

Bayern Munich are not interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer transfer window.

The Bavarian giants already possess considerable depth in the goalkeeper position beyond the number one option, Manuel Neuer.

Either way, the expectation remains that number two Jonas Urbig will earn more first-team minutes in 2025/26.

As Christian Falk reported back in July, Urbig already has an agreement in place with Bayern to get more game time in the coming campaign.

Beyond that, the Allianz Arena-based outfit has plenty in the way of backup options, including Alexander Nübel (28) and Daniel Peretz (25).

As such, the Munich outfit has no plans to compete for Gianluigi Donnarumma’s signature this summer.

“It is NOT TRUE that Bayern have Gianluigi Donnarumma on their list: Bayern have given a new contract to Manuel Neuer for this season, because he is still the number one,” the Bayern expert exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“Another year is not ruled out if Neuer’s performance is still world-class. But after Neuer, the plan is to give Jonas Urbig a chance to be the number one.

“But also, Alexander Nübel (on loan at Stuttgart) and Daniel Peretz (on loan at Hamburg) want to compete for the number one spot at Bayern.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma looks set for Premier League transfer

Meanwhile, reports continue to grow in quantity linking the PSG goalkeeper with a switch to England.

Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United are both understood to hold an interest in Donnarumma (according to the Mirror). However, the Sky Blues are reportedly ahead of Ruben Amorim’s men in their pursuit of the Italian national.

This comes amid some uncertainty over the future of City number one Ederson (whose contract expires in 2026).

Luis Enrique has already made big Donnarumma call at PSG

The damage has already been done as far as Donnarumma’s PSG future is concerned.

Head coach Luis Enrique notably dropped the former AC Milan shotstopper for the UEFA Super Cup victory over Tottenham.

Renato Martin and new signing Lucas Chevalier were instead favoured for the squad – a decision that left Gianluigi Donnarumma publicly disappointed.

Unfortunately for the Italian, he won’t be able to rely on Bayern Munich to provide an escape route this summer!
