Chelsea may find it increasingly difficult to offload Christopher Nkunku this summer.
FC Bayern appear to be unprepared to escalate any interest they hold in the former RB Leipzig hitman.
For the time being, the Bavarian giants remain keen on pursuing first-choice target Nick Woltemade.
However, that position could yet change in light of VfB Stuttgart’s ongoing stubbornness in negotiations.
Christopher Nkunku transfer will depend on Nick Woltemade

Chelsea are understood to be pushing on with their pursuit of Xavi Simons.
Meanwhile, it looks like Nkunku will stay put at Stamford Bridge despite previously reported interest from FC Bayern.
Christian Falk now reports that the Frenchman’s situation will remain unchanged until something definitive happens with Woltemade.
“It’s all calmed down at the moment with Christopher Nkunku and Xavi Simons,” the Bayern Munich insider informed CF Bayern Insider.
“The latter is a very hot option for Chelsea. Nkunku is also not particularly high up on the list and will remain that way for as long as a decision is yet to be made on Woltemade.”
How many goals and assists did Nkunku register in 2024/25?
On the face of it, 20 goal contributions in 48 appearances in 2024/25 (across all competitions) is far from terrible.
It’s not exactly sensational either, until you break down Christopher Nkunku’s goal contribution rate against minutes played.
| Goals | Assists | Goal contributions | Minutes per goal contribution |
| 15 | 5 | 20 | 116.3 |
A goal or assist every 116.3 minutes is pretty competitive for a player featuring irregularly for Chelsea last term.
Don’t forget that the striker has significant Bundesliga pedigree, having accrued 90 goal contributions in 119 games.
Why Nkunku and Xavi Simons transfers may appeal to Bayern
The ongoing question marks that are Xavi Simons and Christopher Nkunku hold a notable appeal for FC Bayern.
With Jamal Musiala sadly set to be sidelined until 2026, the Allianz Arena-based outfit needs positionally versatile options.
Able to play on either wing, as an attacking midfielder, up front or as a second striker – Nkunku is versatility personified.
Likewise, reported target Simons can play in attacking midfield, on the flanks and, if needed, up front.
If Bayern can secure first-choice Nick Woltemade, of course, they’ll also have some versatility in central positions between attacking midfield and centre forward.
So, it all depends on how the chips fall this summer!
