Nick Woltemade stance clear amid Man Utd & Newcastle transfer interest

Nick Woltemade still has his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich despite Premier League interest.

Both Manchester United and Newcastle are understood to have included the VfB Stuttgart striker on their shortlists.

However, as things currently stand, the German international remains keen on holding out for a move to Munich this summer.

The Red Devils and the Magpies find themselves in clear need of central attacking reinforcements.

Ruben Amorim’s outfit clearly needs an upgrade on the struggling Rasmus Hojlund, who only registered four Premier League goals in 2024/25.

Newcastle, on the other hand, are facing heavy pressure to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool, with the Swede set on a switch to Merseyside.

Regardless, they’ll have some persuading to do as far as Woltemade’s future is concerned. Christian Falk reports that the 23-year-old isn’t keen on leaving the Bundesliga this summer.

“Manchester United and Newcastle had Nick Woltemade on their shortlists. However, the VfB Stuttgart striker is still focused on Bayern Munich,” the head of football at the BILD Group exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“He doesn’t want to leave the Bundesliga at this stage. On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Bayern bosses where they discussed how they’ll move in the window for Woltemade.

“There have already been two offers rejected – one of €40m [£34.5m] plus €5m and the second of €50m [£43.2m] plus €5m.

“Now they’ve decided to play on time, as they don’t want to raise their offer again. They hope Stuttgart will come back to the table, as it’s a lot of money for the club as it stands, and they can’t guarantee that another club will be prepared to pay this fee next year. So, it’s a tactic by Bayern to put pressure on Stuttgart.”

Bayern hold the cards but the Premier League will be desperate

With the way the wind is blowing this summer, it seems almost inevitable that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko will make the switch to Old Trafford.

In which case, Newcastle will remain in clear need of a new striker at a time when Isak is seeking pastures new.

Woltemade’s gaze may be fixed on domestic giants Bayern Munich, but who’s to say the promise of Champions League football at St James’ Park couldn’t also test his resolve?

Of course, that would actually require Eddie Howe’s side to put in a bid capable of tempting Markus Krösche to the negotiating table.

So far, Newcastle have shown great reluctance to throw around the kind of cash to be competitive in the market for their top targets.

Game. Set. Match. Bayern? Only time will tell.
