Agent shares if Bayern will sign Jackson permanently next summer

Nicolas Jackson made his first start for Bayern Munich in the 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday at the PreZero Arena.

The 24-year-old moved to Bayern on loan during the summer transfer window from Chelsea, which his agent describes as the most ‘complicated’ move.

Bayern do have the option to sign him permanently next summer, only if the Senegal striker makes 40 starts in all competitions, which looks highly unlikely.

Jackson failed to make an impact in his first start for Bayern, and he was taken off in the second half. Apart from making a long-range effort in the first half, Jackson was barely involved.

Bayern needed to bolster their attack in the summer and initially agreed a loan deal for Jackson. The striker arrived in Germany for his medical, but Chelsea then decided to recall him back following the injury to Liam Delap.

Jackson and his camp refused to return to Chelsea, and Bayern renegotiated a deal on transfer deadline day.

In the end, the Bavarian giants paid a fee in the region of €16.5m to sign him on loan, with the possibility of turning it into a €65m full transfer, taking the overall package to €81.5m.

Meanwhile, Outspoken FC Bayern chief Uli Hoeneß suggested that a permanent transfer for Jackson is almost impossible, as the striker needs to start 40 games, excluding appearances in the DFB Pokal.

Bundesliga sides only play 34 league games a season, and there is no guarantee that Jackson will start all the matches, including those in the Champions League.

Agent hopeful of Bayern deal for Jackson

Jackson’s agent, Ali Barat, is hopeful that Bayern will sign him permanently.

He said to RMC Sport: “You know, it’s a long season. They have a mandatory purchase option (of €80 million, Ed.) if he plays 40 games, but they also have a €65 million option (if he plays fewer than 40 games).

“So I think if Nico Jackson performs this season, given the current market price for strikers, at €65 million in my opinion, they should buy him. Again, it all depends on how Jackson fits in and performs. But normally, with the potential he has, I don’t think they’ll have a problem paying the €65 million at the end of the summer.”

If Jackson makes a strong impression, Bayern can look to negotiate a fresh deal in the summer.

Jackson has a long-term contract with Chelsea, but his current relationship with Enzo Maresca isn’t great. However, it is too early to predict whether Bayern will consider making a permanent move for him next summer.
