Bayern boss reveals surprising transfer figures of Nicolas Jackson transfer

Nicolas Jackson got his desired move to Bayern Munich despite some to and froing between the German champions and Chelsea.

Both European outfits ended up agreeing on a season-long loan move with an obligation to buy.

However, all is not as it seems. Despite a willing return to Stamford Bridge in the summer looking unlikely, it remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old has a future in Munich beyond 2026.

What did Uli Hoeneß say about Nicolas Jackson’s contract?

Outspoken FC Bayern chief Uli Hoeneß has already made things relatively clear on the matter with some key insight into the deal brokered between the two clubs.

The 73-year-old confirmed the following details in talks with the press: “It’s not a €16.5 million loan fee, because the player and his agent [Ali Barat] are contributing €3 million, so that leaves €13.5 million.

“And there will definitely not be a permanent contract. That only happens if he plays 40 games from the start. He will never do that.”

These are, it has to be said, pretty intriguing comments from the former Bayern Munich star – effectively suggesting that the Chelsea man is merely a mercenary for the season. Albeit a highly willing combatant in Vincent Kompany’s arsenal for the remainder of the 2025/26 season!

Nicolas Jackson is delighted to sign for Bayern

The conditions of the deal aside, Jackson has made it publicly clear that he’s delighted to have found a new home in Bavaria.

“Very strong emotions, but not for the reasons you might think,” the Senegalese hitman admitted in comments relayed by Si Phillips at Chelsea News.

“I was simply very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, to discover another league and other great players.

“At the same time, I was a bit sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans.”

Does Nicolas Jackson have a long-term future at Bayern?

Epic Sports’s press release on the number 11’s future would appear to respectfully disagree with Hoeneß: “At just 24, Nicolas Jackson has already demonstrated his ability to rise under pressure from LaLiga to the Premier League, and now to the Bundesliga with one of the most iconic institutions in world football.

“His physical intensity, sharp movement, and ability to break defensive lines make him an ideal fit for Bayern’s attacking philosophy.

“This is more than a transfer. It’s a strategic statement. It’s the continuation of a career meticulously shaped over time, through decisive planning and unwavering belief.”

PR-driven statement or no, one gets the sense that Nicolas Jackson and his management team look at Bayern Munich as more than just a stepping stone.

Whether this evolves into a long-term opportunity, of course, will be entirely driven by performances on the pitch.

There is flexibility for negotiation at FC Bayern, of course, given that a €81.5m [£70.5m] buy option is dependent on the former Premier League man starting 40 games this season. Quite the barrier, one may reasonably suspect, given Harry Kane is Jackson’s direct competition.

But who’s to say a series of consistently strong performances as the Englishman’s backup couldn’t encourage the chiefs at Säbener Straße to engage in exploratory talks next summer?

It almost certainly won’t be for the €81.5m figure cited, judging by Bayern’s final offer of €55m for Nick Woltemade, prior to Newcastle’s late swoop.

Even so, for a hypothetical figure around the €55m mark – Jackson will have to do something special in 2025/26.

  1. Or it could cost Bayern or another team MORE if he is a great success and hasn’t played the required number of games. Maybe Chelsea anticipated this. Your ‘honorary’ member may have just shot himself (and the club) in the foot!
