Bayern Munich reportedly made a shock approach to sign Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling on transfer deadline day.
The Bavarian giants managed to pull off a deal for Nicolas Jackson on loan from the Blues in the final hours under dramatic circumstances.
Sterling is out of favour under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, and the Blues were desperate to get rid of his £300k-per-week wages.
Bayern were linked with many Chelsea players this summer

The German champions were linked with a host of Chelsea players as they looked to bolster their forward and defensive options.
Bayern were heavily keen on signing Christopher Nkunku, who became available for transfer towards the end of the window, but they failed to secure his signature.
Before that, they were linked with a move for Chelsea defender Malo Gusto, while the club also registered reported interest in Renato Veiga, who moved to Villarreal.
Both Bayern and Chelsea were also in the hunt for Xavi Simons for a brief period of time, but the Dutchman moved to Tottenham Hotspur.
In the end, Bayern agreed a loan deal for Jackson, although it appeared that they might miss out on him after Chelsea initially pulled the plug on the move.
Raheem Sterling – shock move!
According to a report from the Telegraph, Bayern made an approach for Sterling on deadine day. But it was just a normal inquiry, and they did not make any concrete offer.
Manchester United and Napoli were also interested in the 30-year-old, who has been completely frozen out of the first-team picture.
The England winger is a vastly experienced player, no doubt, but he has not been anywhere near the levels he produced during his time at Manchester City.
The former Liverpool attacker also failed to shine for Arsenal on loan last season, making it a significant financial gamble to sign him.
The summer window could have been better for Bayern, but they should be happy with the fact that they have added two quality attackers to their ranks in the form of Jackson and Luis Diaz.
