Fabrizio Romano drops big Chelsea transfer update as Bayern watch on

Bayern Munich would reportedly be free to decide whether to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea permanently after the end of the season.

Jackson has a contract at Chelsea until 2023, but doubts remain about whether he would want to return to Stamford Bridge next summer.

The 24-year-old striker contributed 30 goals and 12 assists from 81 games for Chelsea since moving from Villarreal, but he became surplus to requirements at the club following the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Jackson travelled to Germany after a loan deal was agreed with Bayern, but Chelsea recalled him following Delap’s injury.

The Senegal striker and his agent refused to return to Chelsea, and in the closing stages of the transfer window, he moved to Bayern on loan after intense negotiations.

Bayern agreed to pay a loan deal of £14.3m, and an obligation of a further £56.2m should they acquire his services on a full-time basis.

However, there is a catch. Jackson must start 40 games for Bayern to trigger the clause, and that looks highly unlikely.

Jackson’s agent is hopeful that Bayern will sign him permanently next summer.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that, as of now, Jackson will not play for Chelsea again and that his relationship with Enzo Maresca has not been on the best of terms.

Bayern will be free to decide whether they want to sign Jackson for €65m next summer or not. Both Chelsea and the player would be happy if the permanent transfer to Bayern goes through; otherwise, Jackson will look for other options.

Bayern can renegotiate separate deal for Jackson

The striker made his first start in the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim last week, and he looked off the pace.

Apart from one long-range effort, Jackson hardly made any contribution and was taken off after the hour mark.

He is expected to get more opportunities in the coming weeks, but it looks doubtful that Bayern would pay that amount for him.

The Bavarian giants can look to renegotiate a separate deal next summer if they really want to sign him permanently.
