Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen: Five major talking points

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start in the Bundesliga after beating Werder Bremen 4-0 at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.

For the second home game in a row in the Bundesliga, the Bavarian giants kept a clean sheet.

With this victory, Bayern have now picked up eight wins in a row in all competitions for the first time since 2016-17 under Carlo Ancelotti.

Here are five major talking points from the game.

Another dominant victory for Bayern

The German champions have been unstoppable in the 2025-26 season, and it has been a fabulous start for them under Vincent Kompany.

Not only have they won all their games so far in the Bundesliga, but it is the manner of their wins that has been most impressive. They have been superior against every team they have faced so far, having scored 22 goals in just five games, which is a record in the Bundesliga.

Against Werder Bremen, they had enjoyed 59% of possession and registered 26 shots, managing to keep 13 on target. They created six big chances, and, incredibly, they have not conceded a goal at home in the league.

Harry Kane is just phenomenal

The 32-year-old striker has now scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga this season and provided three assists. He is playing at a different level from the rest.

Whether he will continue at Bayern after the end of the season remains unclear, with several Premier League clubs interested in signing him.

What has been absolutely clear is that Kane has the best scoring record of all great Bayern strikers. He has scored 100 goals already, including nine hat-tricks.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has now converted 18 penalties out of 18 in the Bundesliga, which is a remarkable sign of his mental strength as well.

The sky is the limit for Michael Olise

The French winger has been sensational since moving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. In his first season at Bayern, he scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists. He has started the new season with a bang, managing three goals and two assists already.

His impressive form last season earned him a nomination in the Ballon d’Or, but can he win the prestigious award next year? He was brilliant against Bremen and terrorised their defence in the first half.

Tom Bischof shines on first league start

Kompany has not made enough changes to the starting XI in the league this season, but he has usually made changes in midfield.

Joshua Kimmich has made the bench for the second game in a row, and young Tom Bischof replaced him. It was a terrific performance from the 20-year-old youngster, who should now be getting more opportunities in the near future.

He was brave enough to play forward passes, carry the ball into the final third, and play out smart passes. Bischof rounded off an excellent display on his first start in the league with a superb assist for Konrad Laimer.

Has Nicolas Jackson missed a big opportunity?

For the second game in a row, Nicolas Jackson failed to make the best use of the opportunities presented to him.

The 24-year-old was ineffective against Hoffenheim. The Senegal striker came off the bench, replacing Kane, and got a one-on-one opportunity to score. He only managed to hit the ball straight at the goalkeeper.

Bayern signed Jackson on loan, but they can consider making a permanent move for him next summer. However, for that to happen, Jackson needs to show that he is good enough to play week in week out at Bayern.
