Could Harry Kane return to England and fulfil his destiny to become the all-time top Premier League goalscorer?
It’s not a question Bayern Munich fans will wish to seriously contemplate – and understandably so!
The England skipper has already registered a whopping 91 goals in 100 appearances (in all competitions) for the Bundesliga giants.
To put that into context, it places Kane 21st on the all-time top scorers list at FC Bayern.
Does Alan Shearer’s record beckon for Harry Kane?

The former Tottenham hitman has quite a while to go to reach Gerd Müller’s 570 goals for Bayern.
Even Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller’s efforts (at 344 and 250 goals respectively) will more than likely prove unattainable – even if Kane does fulfil the full length of his contract.
On the other hand, the 32-year-old only needs 48 Premier League goals in England to write his name into the history books.
“Nobody knows what 2026 holds for Harry Kane,” Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“Will he make the step back to the Premier League to chase the goalscoring record? He’s only 47 away from matching Alan Shearer.
“If Bayern were to have a successful season and win the Champions League this year, you could see how Kane might say, ‘I have achieved everything in Munich’, and then go back to England.”
The striker is contracted to remain in Munich until the summer of 2027.
| Players | English top-flight goals |
| Alan Shearer | 260 |
| Harry Kane | 213 |
| Wayne Rooney | 208 |
| Andrew Cole | 187 |
| Mo Salah | 187 |

Could Bayern sell Kane back to Tottenham?
We’re in no hurry to see Harry Kane return to English football; there’s no question it would be a huge loss for the Bundesliga.
However, we can understand why there might be at least some appeal in the idea for the England international.
For starters, it’s his more “natural” home, having operated in English football for the vast majority of his playing career.
As we’ve previously reported at CF Bayern Insider in May, the prospect of breaking Shearer’s goals record is still firmly in Kane’s mind.
However, it all depends on what Bayern can achieve in the 2025/26 season and how competitive they look going into the following campaign.
Nothing is set in stone as of right this minute, but it is a concern given how important a servant Harry Kane has been to the club since his arrival in 2023.
