Hoffenheim started their new campaign with a 4-0 win over Hansa Rostock in the German Cup.

Die Kraichgauer surprised everyone when they secured a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen away from home in their opening league game.

Christian Ilzer’s side could not carry forward the momentum as they lost 3-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt at home.

Last week, they bounced back with a 4-2 victory away at Union Berlin and should enter this game with complete confidence.

While they have been scoring goals for fun, it is their leaky defence that should worry the fans. At home, they must remain tight at the back against the champions.

Bayern have been utterly dominant in the Bundesliga this season, and they won 5-0 against Hamburg in their previous league game.

The Bavarian giants also emerged 3-1 victorious against Chelsea in the Champions League, with Harry Kane scoring two goals on the night.

Vincent Kompany’s side have scored 14 goals in three matches in the Bundesliga already, and 22 times in six games in all competitions.

Bayern won both their games against Hoffenheim last season with a combined scoreline of 9-0, but they lost 4-2 against their rivals at the PreZero Arena in May 2024.

While the German champions have been ruthless in the league, Hoffenheim can draw inspiration from Augsburg, who gave Bayern a hard time during their 3-2 loss.

Bayern suffered a blow in midweek, with Josip Stanisic picking up an injury against the Blues, and he will be out for a few weeks at least.
