Michael Olise’s performances in his debut season in German football appear to have Premier League clubs looking wistfully back at the Frenchman.
The former Crystal Palace wide man registered a remarkable 43 goal contributions in 55 games (across all competitions) in the 2024/25 season.
He’s since followed that up with a further eight goal contributions in as many games to kick off the current campaign in style.
But will this only give encouragement for English outfits to return for his services next summer?
Could Michael Olise return to the Premier League?

The Premier League was, of course, already at least partly aware of Olise’s talents.
After all, Newcastle United had been at the table to snap up the Eagles winger at the time Bayern Munich were also courting the French international.
The Bavarian giants won that particular battle, although there will be fresh concerns arising amid reports of Liverpool and Manchester City interest in the 23-year-old.
“I think on the island, they see what a big player Michael Olise is,” Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.
“When Bayern Munich triggered his release clause at Crystal Palace, there was just Newcastle involved in the poker with Bayern Munich, so they could make it work. I think if, at that point, Liverpool or City had also been at the table, it would have been really more complicated.
“But now they see what a player he could be. At Bayern Munich, he’s the player of the year, based on early performances. I talked with Thomas Müller about him, and he said he’s the new leader in the team. He’s not talking a lot, but he’s always showing, “Give me the ball and I will make something special”.
The footballer’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2029.
Liverpool and Manchester City are watching Olise
With Harry Kane also linked with a Premier League return in 2026, the potential double exit of the Englishman and Michael Olise would represent a disaster scenario for Bayern Munich.
“And now, yes, teams like Liverpool, and I heard also Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are watching him very, very closely,” Falk went on to add.
“And because Bayern bought the player for €60m [£52.3m] from Crystal Palace, if an interested party pays a price over the €100m [£87.2m] mark – Bayern Munich have to think about it.
“But they want to keep him, and now they’re trying to give him a new contract so that they don’t lose him.”
However, this is a threat that the decision-makers at Säbener Straße have to take seriously.
Firstly, Liverpool’s need appears to be particularly great amid reports that the 2025/26 season could be Mo Salah’s last in the Premier League.
Even should the Egyptian fulfil his full contract (until 2027), the Merseysiders are unlikely to leave planning a long-term successor for the 2027 summer transfer window. In which case, Olise would surely be considered high up on the list for Liverpool.
Manchester City don’t have quite the same need, but the promise of working with a manager of Pep Guardiola’s prestige would surely be appealing to the former Premier League star.
