Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has started the 2025-26 campaign with a bang.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker scored a hat-trick in the opening game for Bayern against RB Leipzig, and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
The 32-year-old was outstanding in the second game against Augsburg, registering two assists and showcasing his overall involvement.
Michael Owen raves about Harry Kane

In the summer of 2023, Kane moved to Bayern from Spurs on a record transfer deal.
The England skipper joined for an initial £86.4m, plus add-ons, and proved his class in a different league.
Kane is Tottenham’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances, but he moved to a top European club to win trophies.
Michael Owen has hailed him as an “unbelievable” player, but he thinks that instead of moving to Bayern, it would have been an outstanding achievement had he been the top goal scorer ever in the Premier League.
The former Liverpool striker said on Rio Ferdinand Presents: “Harry Kane is just lethal; he’s a brilliant finisher.
“I disagreed with him going to Germany; I was outspoken about that. I still think he was nuts. You’re on the verge of being the all-time Premier League goal scorer, you’ve got kids that are all in school. I mean, I just couldn’t see it. I don’t see it If you’re that desperate to win something, then do another year [at Tottenham] and then go.
“It’s like if you go up and move to Celtic and win the league, you win every year, but there’s no great achievement in that. A great achievement would have been being the top goal scorer ever in the Premier League. That would have been unbelievable, and he could have won things along the way. Anyway, we digress.
“Harry Kane, I love him. I think he is lethal. He’s got balls of steel under pressure. You’ve got to have a great penalty taker – he is unbelievable. He’s got presence, I do like him, I think he’s been brilliant over the years.”
The analogy does not make any sense
First of all, with due respect to Celtic, Kane has not moved to any Scottish Premiership clubs that consistently fail to advance past the group stages of the Champions League. He has joined Bayern, a great club with a strong European pedigree.
Becoming the top goalscorer in the Premier League would definitely be an achievement, but the priority is not the same for every player.
Owen must have forgotten that, despite Bayern’s dominance, they lost the Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season, as Bayer Leverkusen remained unbeaten throughout the campaign.
Moreover, by moving to a different league and shining like a star, Kane has proven himself to be a genuinely world-class player.
