Pafos 1 – 5 Bayern Munich: Harry Kane leads Bavarian blitz in Cyprus

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start to the 2025-26 campaign with a 5-1 win against Pafos FC in the Champions League on Tuesday night at the Alphamega Stadium.

The Bundesliga champions won 3-1 against Chelsea in their first Champions League game, and won comfortably away from home.

Harry Kane scored twice on the night, while Michael Olise produced a superb performance to earn Bayern all three points.

Bayern have won all their games so far in all competitions, and everyone expected them to dominate against Pafos away from home.

Vincent Kompany made five changes from the previous game, with Kim Min-jae and Nicolas Jackson being drafted into the starting line-up, while Joshua Kimmich also returned to the first team after making the bench in the previous two games.

Luis Diaz provided the early threat when he tried to curl in from the left after cutting inside, saved by Pafos goalie Michael.

Harry Kane nearly gave the visitors the lead with an acrobatic effort, but it rattled the crossbar. However, Bayern’s centurian goalscorer did not have to wait long as he opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a superb finish, with Michael Olise registering yet another assist.

Bayern completedly dominated the midfield, and the second goal came five minutes later through Raphael Guerreiro. From the right hand side, Olise moved quickly and passed it to Jackson, who played the ball in the path of Guerreiro, who made it 2-0.

Jackson in search of his first goal tried to hit from a distance and was easily saved by the keeper. In the 31st minute, he got his first goal for the club with a neat finish, after Olise produced a dazzling bit of skill to find him in the box.

Four minutes later, Kane scored his goal of the night. He dribbled past several players inside the box, and got a bit lucky with deflections, but eventually managed to score from a tight angle.

In the 43rd minute, he nearly turned into a provider, as his lovely through pass found Diaz in the box, but the Colombian only managed to hit the keeper.

The home side then pulled off a stunning goal from a long-range effort through Orsic leaving Manuel Neuer no chance of saving it.

After the break, Bayern continued their dominance, and Olise had a great chance to open his scoring account, but hit the keeper from close range.

In the 55th minute, Kane played a smart pass to Jackson inside the box, and the Senegal striker could only manage to hit straight at the keeper.

Moments later, Pavlovic had a brilliant effort from distance saved by the Pafos keeper, but Kimmich could not score on the rebound.

Jackson was put through on goal and he had the goal at his mercy, but the on-loan Chelsea striker missed a one-v-one chance. Luckily, Olise was there at the right place to score with a fabulous strike.

Kompany made a host of changes towards the end, and Bayern focussed more on controlling the game. Jackson was really unlucky, as his effort hit the bar towards the closing stages of the game.

Here at CF Bayern Insider, we have rated the players out of 10.

Bayern Munich player ratings

Manuel Neuer (7) – The Bayern legend could only watch Orsic’s long range effort striking the far corner, but after from that, he had very little work to do, as Pafos barely created chances.

Konrad Laimer (7) – It was a bit of underwhelming performance from Laimer, who generally gallops forward at every opportunity. Still, he was defensively solid.

Dayot Upamecano (7) – Arguably the solid of the two defenders. While his future has been speculated in the media, he keeps on reminding why he is still a class act.

Kim Min-jae (6) – It was his error that led to the goal. While he made a few clearances, clearly, he could have done more.

Raphael Guerreiro (8) – Made a brilliant run into the box, and found the net from close range. He made two interceptions, and made five key passes.

Joshua Kimmich (7) – Another solid performance from the Bayern midfield maestro, and he was more effective with his long ball passing.

Aleksandar Pavlovic (7) – He was heavily involved during the game, managing 94% passing accuracy.

Michael Olise (9) – The Frenchman could win the next Ballon d’Or if he keeps on playing like this. Another outstanding performance from him, as he managed two assists and a goal.

Nicolas Jackson (7) – He scored his first goal for Bayern, but he could have got two more goals too! That’s where the frustration lies. He misses sitters as well.

Luis Diaz (7) – Livewire on the left hand side, Diaz was really unfortuante not have opened his account tonight, but Kompany will be delighted with that effort.

Harry Kane (9) – He is enjoying the form of his life. Another great all-round performance from the England striker. Apart from scoring two goals, he nearly grabbed an assist. He has now scored 17 goals this season already.
