Christian Falk: £30m attacker on Bayern’s radar; big decision needed on Gnabry

Bayern Munich have kept Cologne’s rising talent, Said El Mala, on their radar.

Bolstering the attacking areas was a priority for Bayern in the summer window, following the departures of Leroy Sane and Thomas Müller. They spent heavily on Luis Diaz, who has been outstanding since making the move from Liverpool.

The Bavarian giants have made a perfect start to the 2025-26 campaign, where they have been ruthless in their attacking front, scoring goals for fun.

However, like any top club across Europe, they are always on the lookout for exceptional talent and have earmarked El Mala as a potential option.

El Mala is a product of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s youth academy. In June 2024, he signed a contract with Cologne, but spent the rest of the season on loan with Viktoria Köln.

Back in the Bundesliga, the 19-year-old has made a big impression, scoring two goals and providing an assist in six appearances, with five of them coming from the bench.

He is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Germany, and it comes as no surprise that Bayern are keeping a close eye on him.

The German champions are always looking to build a core side with plenty of German players, and El Mala has been kept on the shortlist for the next summer window.

The youngster has a contract at Cologne until 2030, and while he does not have a release clause, he would cost in the region of £30m (€35m).

Bayern need to make a big decision on Serge Gnabry

Before exploring options elsewhere next summer, Bayern must make a major decision on Serge Gnabry, who has been enjoying a phenomenal campaign.

The 30-year-old has scored three goals and provided four assists in all competitions so far, and Bayern need to decide whether they will offer him a new contract.

Gnabry will become a free agent next summer, but he has suggested that he is ‘extremely relaxed’ with his contract situation at the club.
