Liverpool are showing keen interest in signing Dayot Upamecano next summer.
The Frenchman has a contract at the Allianz Arena that runs until the end of the season, and despite ongoing talks, he has yet to sign a new deal with the club.
Liverpool could face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also closely monitoring Upamecano’s situation.
Upamecano wanted by Liverpool and Man Utd

Liverpool were close to signing Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window, but the deal collapsed in the final few hours of the transfer deadline day.
While the Reds still retain an interest in the England defender, they are exploring other options, and Upamecano on a free transfer would be a terrific addition for them.
Liverpool are also in a similar situation with Ibrahima Konate, who has not signed a new deal at Anfield. The Premier League champions could consider selling Joe Gomez in January if they find a suitable replacement, while the club should already be planning for Virgil van Dijk’s successor.
Upamecano joined Bayern in the January window of 2021 and has made 160 appearances in all competitions. He has been a symbol of consistency for the club, and needless to say, Bayern desperately want to secure his future.
Man Utd could look for a major defensive shake-up, and Upamecano could be seen as a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire.
What Bayern are planning to do with Upamecano
According to Bild, money remains the main sticking point in Upamecano’s situation.
The Frenchman feels comfortable at Bayern, but he wants the club to appreciate him by offering him a lucrative deal. Upamecano believes he should receive equal treatment to players who have recently had their contracts extended.
The problem is that while Bayern do feel that keeping Upamecano at the club is a priority, they are not ready to pay over the top as they’re still following a cost-cutting strategy.
While Bayern are optimistic that Upamecano will commit his future, the more time passes, the more other clubs will feel confident about signing him for free.
