Bayern Munich have confirmed that Vincent Kompany has extended his stay at the club by signing a new contract.
The German giants surprised everyone when they appointed Kompany as their manager in the summer of 2024, and their decision proved to be the right one.
The former Manchester City defender won the Bundesliga title in his first season, winning it back from Bayer Leverkusen.
He then added one more silverware this August with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.

His record at Bayern has been terrific. In his 67 competitive matches at the helm, the 39-year-old former defender has won 49 (nine draws, nine defeats).
In the Bundesliga, he has recorded 32 wins, seven draws and only two defeats across 41 matches, which works out at 2.51 points per game. Only Pep Guardiola boasts a better return in the league’s history (2.52).
“I’m delighted about this extension,” said Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl. “When we signed Vinny, we had a clear imagination of our path together, and he’s quickly proved that he’s taking Bayern forward both on and off the pitch.
“He’s a figure of identification who unites the players, the fans and everyone at the club. And we want to create something long term with him.”
Kompany’s original deal was set to run until 2027. Christian Falk has told CFBayern that Bayern acted quickly, fearing that Manchester City might turn to Kompany, as the Citizens see him as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola.
More work to do for Max Eberl
Bayern have won 11 consecutive games in all competitions, and they have been phenomenal in the league, winning seven on the trot.
Eberl needs to sort out more contract issues in the coming months. For instance, Dayot Upamecano will leave the club for free next summer, and despite negotiations in recent weeks, Bayern have not been able to make a breakthrough.
Likewise, Serge Gnabry, who has been superb this season, will also become a free agent in the summer of 2026, but he is ready to take a pay cut to prolong his stay at Bayern.
