Bayern Munich have switched their attention towards signing VfB Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade in the summer window.
The German champions have been linked with a host of left-wingers this summer, but they have not been able to strike deals with any of their major targets.
While signing a left-winger is a priority for Bayern, it appears the German giants now want to sign Woltemade, who normally plays as a striker but can also operate as a number 10.
Nick Woltemade – what’s the latest scenario?

Sky Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, claimed earlier this week that Bayern have reached a verbal agreement with Woltemade, who is currently playing for the Germany U21 side in the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
The 23-year-old versatile striker wants to join Bayern, and he has informed Stuttgart about his desires. Bayern have offered him a long-term contract until 2030, and salary terms have been agreed in the last few days.
The German champions are planning to open negotiations soon for the attacker.
The logic behind signing Nick Woltemade
Bayern have pulled off a huge surprise by reaching an agreement with Woltemade.
In the past two months, Bayern have made efforts to sign a left-winger, but they have not been able to strike deals for some of their major targets, such as Nico Williams and Bradley Barcola.
Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo remains a major target, while Bayern could also look at Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli.
Bayern are looking to strike a deal for around £42m for Woltemade, but is he worth the money? Lothar Matthäus even thinks that Bayern are getting a player on the cheap! Bayern need a dazzling winger next season, but Woltemade is a different sort of profile.
The 23-year-old scored 14 goals in the Bundesliga last season. Will he get regular chances when Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala are both fit?
On the other hand, his signing solves one major problem — Bayern have found a backup option for Kane, and he could be his long-term replacement in the future.
Woltemade has a Thomas Muller-like quality, and therefore, he can bring an element of unpredictability to the side.
Vincent Kompany could tweak his system a bit – he can use Musiala on the left, allowing Woltemade to play behind Kane.
