Bayern interested in €60m prodigy Real Madrid & Liverpool like but there’s a €308m catch

Bayern Munich will potentially face serious competition for Dean Huijsen this summer.

Not least of all from incumbent Champions League holders Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are likewise understood to reserve interest in the young centre-back.

It’s hardly the sole Premier League product Los Blancos are keeping their eye on either.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are also reportedly closing in on a permanent move for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (whose contract expires this summer).

Huijsen is understood to have racked up multiple admirers in European football – also including Premier League leaders Liverpool.

“It’s true: Bayern Munich is interested in Dean Huisen, the 19-year-old defender (centre-back) of Bournemouth,” CF Bayern Insider’s Christian Falk informed CaughtOffside.

“He has a contract until 2030, but he also has a release clause at €60m [£50.5m]. A lot of money for Bayern Munich – they have to sell players first, but they’re also trying to give Dayot Upamecano and Eric Dier new contracts.

“Also, Real Madrid is interested in Dean Huijsen, so it’s getting difficult for Bayern Munich.”

It’s unclear just how quickly the Spain international’s suitors will move to seal the defender’s services this summer.

Madrid, for what it’s worth, are hardly short of top centre-halves. That said, with two ageing options in David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger (both 32), it’s an issue sure to have been identified by the club’s recruitment team.

The Merseyside giants, likewise, find themselves staring down the barrel of a defensive crisis with Virgil van Dijk’s contract also set to run out in 2025.

Bayern may need to get their exits sealed with haste – in a bid to cut down a reportedly problematic €308m [£257.3m] wage bill – if they wish to be a serious contender in this transfer battle.

Eric Dier contract offer suggests Bayern are concerned

A U-turn from the club over Dier’s short-term future is intriguing from a potential transfer perspective.

It would seem that decision-makers at Säbener Straße are a little concerned about our depth at centre-back.

That’ll be due in no small part to the injuries Hiroki Ito and Dayot Upamecano have recently picked up.

In that case, why not simply allow Eric Dier’s contract to run its course this summer and bank on both aforementioned defenders’ availability in 2025/26?

If there’s a growing belief at Bayern that the Englishman’s services will be required next term, there’s a case to be made for investing in a young talent of Huijsen’s capabilities.
