Harry Kane doesn’t miss penalties – that’s been an unassailable fact since the 2022 World Cup.
The England international’s last missed effort from the penalty spot came back in December 10 during a quarter-final clash with France in the competition.
Yet, to the surprise of many, the 32-year-old completely misplaced his effort during Thursday’s 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham.
A rare penalty miss for Harry Kane against Tottenham

To put things into context, it’s been 971 days since ex-Premier League star Kane last missed a penalty for club and country.
In his defence, he had slipped before skying his penalty kick clean over Vicario in goal.
He explained: “The course was a little different than last week, and I actually considered changing my shoes—but then I didn’t. Sometimes you get penalised for that.
“At least now I know I have to wear the right shoes next time.”
There’ll ultimately be no hard feelings for the footballer – not least of all because the misstep came in a game that carried no real significance in pre-season.
Certainly, we suspect the former Spurs man will relish the opportunity to build another lengthy streak of penalties scored for the Bavarian champions.
How did Kane fare against Tottenham?
The 2023 summer signing was the first on the scoresheet for Bayern in what was a controlled display against Thomas Frank’s men.
Harry Kane was the joint-second highest rated player (alongside Joshua Kimmich) on the pitch at the Allianz Arena.
Sofascore handed the attacker an 8.1/10 rating after collecting:
→ 1 goal
→ 2 big chances created
→ 17/20 passes completed (85%)
→ 3 key passes
→ 2/2 ground duels won
→ Possession lost 3x
Whilst it should be borne in mind that Spurs are hardly Champions League-level quality, this was still a display that said plenty about the Munich outfit’s credentials ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Once again, the forward looks set to form a key part of Vincent Kompany’s renewed push for high honours this year.
We’re sure it won’t take long for Kane to brush off a pre-season partly defined by statistical anomalies!
