Harry Kane’s future at Bayern Munich remains a ‘big topic’ at the club, with uncertainty increasingly rife.
The England international has arguably taken his game up a level since his move to the Allianz Arena in 2023 for a Bundesliga record fee (for a signing) of €100m [£87.3m].
A figure one might reasonably claim has been well justified by 129 goal contributions in 104 games for the Bavarians.
But could a return to the Premier League yet be on the cards?
Bayern concerned over Harry Kane’s contract

As things stand, there is a very real threat that Kane could return to the Premier League in the summer window.
A successful World Cup would certainly serve up yet another reminder (beyond his Champions League exploits) of what the English top-flight is missing in its would-be record-breaker.
“Harry Kane’s future is a big topic here in Munich,” Christian Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider. “I think Kane is in the form of his life. His education at Bayern Munich has undoubtedly helped.
“Max Eberl, the head of sport, already said he’s improved at Bayern Munich. He was a big star before he came to the Allianz Arena, of course, but now he’s playing a little bit more like a winner. You know, this is the “siegermentalität” in Germany, the DNA of Bayern Munich. He’s scoring and scoring and scoring.
“But the contract is a concern. We shared the story about his release clause, which he has to activate in the winter if he wants to leave next summer. And the next summer, you know, there is the World Cup. And after the World Cup, he has just one more year left. Bayern Munich can’t give him away without a transfer fee – they paid a lot of money for him. And that’s why the question has to be – will he use it this winter or not?”
However, the question remains as to which Premier League side would be prepared to prise the 32-year-old away from FC Bayern next summer.
Can another Premier League club grant Kane’s wishes?
Tottenham would undoubtedly represent a romantic choice – but can Thomas Frank’s men realistically target Champions League success in the next three years?
Will one of the league’s current heavyweights – in Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal – have space in their squads for a veteran hitman?
Or, perhaps, is the promise of history, courtesy of the Premier League goalscoring record, enough to sway Kane’s mind?
“There are plenty of rumours flitting about. He’s interested, of course, in Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record, but he’d like to win big silverware like the Champions League,” Falk went on to add.
“Ultimately, if you want to win it, I think the best moment is at Bayern Munich.
“So this will be a big decision because otherwise he has to sign a new contract. And that will be a question of money because he’s earning about €24m [£20.9m] a year (gross). Bayern won’t give him more because he’s not getting younger. So this will be a big discussion.”
Provided that football’s biggest prizes remain the main motivator, Bayern have nothing to worry about.
As things currently stand, the Bundesliga giants can offer their number nine a serious crack at Champions League glory.
Unlike with his former club, Tottenham, Harry Kane’s already had a taste of major silverware with the German top-flight title. Patience, evidently, is a virtue!
